Athenian Alexa Integration

v0.5.0 October 6, 2026
Voice-commerce, account-linking, catalog, and order workflows for WooCommerce through Amazon Alexa.

Overview

Product overview

Most commerce teams that want an Alexa experience run into the same problem: WooCommerce already contains the product, customer, and order truth, but Alexa needs a secure voice-ready backend, account linking, API endpoints, deployment guidance, and purchase-safe workflows. That usually leads to custom middleware, duplicated business logic, or fragile proof-of-concept integrations that are expensive to maintain.

Athenian Amazon Alexa Integration solves that by letting WordPress itself become the Alexa integration layer. The plug-in provides a built-in OAuth 2.0 provider for Alexa account linking, a REST bridge for catalog and account data, guided admin configuration for Amazon and AWS setup, and a starter skill kit that includes the interaction model, Lambda handler, and environment template. The result is a faster path to voice commerce that still keeps WooCommerce as the source of truth.

Use cases

  • Voice commerce
  • Alexa shopping
  • Order lookup
  • Product discovery

Developer

Developer starting point

This baseline documents the Alexa integration architecture. It does not claim that Alexa account linking, a provider request, a live voice session, a WooCommerce order, or payment completion has been exercised.

Integration story

WooCommerce

WooCommerce remains the source of truth for products, pricing, stock status, customers, and orders. The plug-in reads from live WooCommerce data and creates WooCommerce orders rather than introducing a parallel commerce system.

Amazon Alexa

The plug-in is purpose-built for custom Alexa skills. It provides the account-linking flow, the storefront and account endpoints the skill needs, and the starter assets required to stand up the Alexa experience faster.

AWS Lambda

The included starter kit assumes an Alexa-compatible Lambda runtime and helps connect the Alexa skill to the WordPress REST layer. This keeps the skill thin while WordPress handles catalog and customer logic.

WordPress admin operations

The admin UI acts as the control plane for the integration. That is where merchants and operators configure OAuth, storefront behavior, skill metadata, purchase permissions, and Amazon deployment references.

Troubleshooting

Baseline review boundary
  • This baseline documents the Alexa integration architecture. It does not claim that Alexa account linking, a provider request, a live voice session, a WooCommerce order, or payment completion has been exercised.

  • Confirm the deployed plugin version, active dependencies, and current repository tree before using implementation details as a release contract.
  • Treat payment, carrier, vendor, shipment, inventory, account, credential, tax, AI, and external-provider behavior as integration-dependent until exercised in the target environment.

FAQ

What is this page intended to establish?

A versioned, product-linked starting point for iterative developer documentation. It combines the local implementation reference with a detected-code inventory and a committed GitHub baseline.

Is the linked repository baseline verified?

Yes. The repository URL, ref, and commit recorded on this page were verified from the clean GitHub baseline prepared for this documentation pass. That does not by itself prove fleet deployment parity.

What remains for release-grade documentation?

Reconcile the recorded source baseline with the deployed plugin version, then exercise the relevant authenticated, store, provider, payment, tax, carrier, or generated-artifact paths in the target environment.
