product details.

Athenian Schedule & Appointments provides a scheduling foundation for WordPress with appointment booking, staff availability, capacity rules, admin calendars, and REST-backed scheduling records. It helps teams coordinate bookable services, staff coverage, customer appointments, and connected WooCommerce service workflows while keeping data, permissions, and automation aligned with the broader Athenian Platform Ecosystem.

Athenian Schedule & Appointment Manager is a reusable WordPress scheduling foundation for service businesses, internal operations teams, academies, salons, field teams, support groups, and other appointment-driven workflows. It provides structured appointment records, staff schedule records, frontend booking shortcodes, a WordPress admin calendar, and REST endpoints for appointment creation, event feeds, staff bootstrap data, and coverage calculations.

The plugin supports two scheduling models. Standard mode handles classic appointment blocks with optional staff assignment. Coverage mode calculates aggregate staff capacity by time slot, allowing teams to schedule against pooled availability instead of only a single named staff member’s calendar.

ASAM is best positioned as scheduling infrastructure rather than just a booking form. It gives Athenian Platform projects a shared appointment, staff availability, capacity, calendar, and REST-backed scheduling layer that can support academy meetings, service-provider marketplaces, salon bookings, technician dispatch, support appointments, field-service requests, and future WooCommerce service-commerce flows.

The current version is an MVP foundation, but it already includes the primitives needed for booking intake, admin calendar review, staff availability records, and coverage-based capacity previews.

How Athenian Schedule & Appointments fits the Athenian Platform

Platform role: Athenian Schedule & Appointments is a focused capability in the Service, Workforce & Learning Platforms layer. Its primary scope covers Scheduling, Booking & Field Service while remaining composable with the other modules an implementation actually requires.

Connected scope: Athenian Schedule & Appointments is designed to work inside a WordPress and WooCommerce operating environment where storefront, customer, order, identity, payment, fulfillment, automation, and reporting context can remain connected across relevant modules instead of being trapped in isolated add-ons.

From module to operating platform: Athenian Brands organizes the ecosystem in four connected layers: Platform Kernel and Platform Core foundations; focused capability plugins; implementation and integration services; and operating brands such as PrintGhost.ai, Athenian Marketplace, Athenian Academy, and Athenian Unÿa that apply the same patterns to real business workflows.

Coverage Scheduling

Schedule Against Staff Availability, Capacity, and Pooled Coverage

ASAM supports both standard one-to-one appointments and coverage-based
scheduling, where staff availability, weekly working windows, exceptions,
capacity multipliers, and overlapping appointments are calculated into
slot-level availability.

Standard Mode
Classic appointment blocks with optional staff assignment
Coverage Mode
Aggregate staff availability into slot-level capacity totals
Staff Roles
Use configurable WordPress roles to identify schedulable team members

Availability Layer How It Helps
Staff Schedules Stores staff availability in the ab_staff_schedule custom post type with linked users, timezone, weekly windows, exceptions, and capacity.
Role Mapping Creates an asam_staff role and allows admins to choose which WordPress roles count as schedulable staff.
Coverage Calculation Calculates capacity, used, and free values for each slot by combining staff schedules with overlapping appointments.
Exceptions Supports date-specific closures or override blocks so staff availability can account for time off, breaks, or temporary changes.
  • Stores staff schedule metadata such as _asam_staff_user_id, _asam_tz, _asam_weekly, _asam_exceptions, and _asam_capacity.
  • Uses default staff roles such as asam_staff, administrator, editor, and shop_manager.
  • Supports coverage previews through /wp-json/asam/v1/coverage.
  • Fits appointment workflows where total available service capacity matters more than a single named provider.

Scheduling Infrastructure

Use ASAM as the Scheduling Core for Service, Academy, and Operations Workflows

Athenian Schedule & Appointment Manager exposes appointment data,
staff options, event feeds, coverage slots, and appointment update actions
through REST endpoints, making it suitable as a reusable scheduling layer
beneath larger Athenian Platform products.

Platform Layer Operational Purpose
REST Bootstrap Returns version, timezone, settings, staff lists, and nonce data for frontend booking and calendar interfaces.
Event Feeds Provides appointment event data for calendar rendering across admin and frontend surfaces.
Admin Updates Lets authorized operators update appointment timing, status, mode, notes, and staff assignment through REST-backed admin calendar actions.
Ecosystem Foundation Can support academy sessions, service marketplaces, salon operations, technician dispatch, support appointments, and future WooCommerce service checkout flows.

Beyond a booking form:
ASAM is designed as scheduling infrastructure for workflows that need
appointment records, staff schedules, capacity visibility, calendar tools,
and REST-backed scheduling data.

  • Stores plugin settings in asam_options, including staff roles, slot minutes, day start/end, default mode, and frontend login requirements.
  • Provides REST routes such as /wp-json/asam/v1/bootstrap, /wp-json/asam/v1/events, /wp-json/asam/v1/coverage, and /wp-json/asam/v1/appointments.
  • Uses WordPress permissions, nonces, staff-role validation, and input sanitization for booking and admin update flows.
  • Builds toward service catalogs, WooCommerce deposits, staff-skill matching, recurring appointments, SMS notifications, customer rescheduling, ICS feeds, visual schedule editing, Site Theme styling, and utilization reporting.
